Genome Medical Names Sara Riordan Vice President of Strategy

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, June 23, 2023 — Genome Medical today announced the hiring of Sara Riordan, M.S., CGC, as its vice president of Strategy. In this new role, Sara will direct the company’s strategic vision to drive key enterprise-wide initiatives that advance the company’s long term growth and enable a world where everyone’s health is informed by genetics.

Sara joins Genome Medical most recently from Unified Patient Network, where she served as vice president of Clinical and Research Programs. She has also held leadership roles at leading biotechnology and precision oncology diagnostic firms, including Oncocyte and Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a consultant and entrepreneur, she has also advanced the work of early-stage companies in developing and commercializing genomic tests and applications.

At Genome Medical, Sara will lead the development and implementation of forward-looking strategies to advance the adoption of genetic services and solutions and strengthen the company’s competitive advantages in the market. 

Sara began her career as a genetic counselor and clinical instructor.  She recently served as the president of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), where she focused on growing a diverse workforce and advocating for equitable access to genetic counselor services. Sara received her Masters in Genetic Counseling from the University of Arizona and completed a Masters in Human Genetics at the University of California, Los Angeles.
