International Annual Awards Program Recognizes Standout Digital Health & Medical Technology Innovations
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., – May 3, 2023 – Genome Medical, the leading telehealth provider of genetic services and genomics-based care, today announced that its RISE Risk Assessment Module is the recipient of the “Genomics Innovation Award” in the 7th annual MedTech Breakthrough Awards program. The RISE Risk Assessment Module: Hereditary Cancer is a patient-administered digital tool that has been clinically validated using genetic testing criteria based on national guidelines to identify individuals who may benefit from cancer genetic testing. RISE collects and analyzes family and personal health history on any personal device with internet access. Completing the assessment is made easy for patients and providers – with a link sent via text, email or QR code – and takes less than five minutes to complete. Patients can also be prompted to schedule an appointment with a Genome Medical genetic counselor.
Additionally, patients who are identified via the RISE assessment are provided with pre-test education content related to their hereditary cancer risk. This better prepares them for their appointment with a Genome Medical genetic counselor and reduces the burden on providers to ensure their patients receive accurate information about their genetic test options.
The RISE risk assessment for hereditary cancer completion rate is greater than 95% and on average, 26% of patients screened have met national guidelines that indicate they would benefit from genetic services. Providers can point their patients to RISE for a guidelines-based process that could improve compliance, save physician time and improve patient screening.
